Wein & Obst Klosterneuburg RTD is a research institution with partial legal capacity at the Federal College and Research Institute for Viticulture and Pomology in Klosterneuburg. As part of an EU research project, we are looking for a Senior Scientist (postdoc) (f/m/d) for the period October 2024 to May 2028.
Working hours per week: 20
Future workplace: Klosterneuburg
Fair salary: at least € 2,386.50 for 20 hours per week (14 times a year for senior scientists postdoctoral) in accordance with the research collective agreement (KV außeruniversitäre Forschung), with the possibility of a higher classification depending on professional experience
Your future tasks:
• Isolation of natural active substances from the grapevine
• Isolation and cultivation of vine pathogens under laboratory conditions
• Carrying out efficacy tests against vine pathogens in the laboratory
• Planning and conducting field trials for the biological control of vine pathogens in accordance with international standards
• Planning and conducting trials with organic fertilisers (pot and field trials)
• Trial evaluation according to international scientific standards
• Publication and dissemination activities at a scientific level
• Communication of project results to agricultural practitioners in Austria and abroad
Your education, training and skills:
• Completed university degree, master's programme in agriculture, agricultural sciences, phytomedicine or equivalent degree programmes
• Relevant dissertation required
• Austrian citizenship or unrestricted access to the Austrian labour market
• Practical laboratory experience in conducting experiments with vine pathogens
• Several years of experience in organic plant protection in viticulture
• Practical viticultural experience desired
• Knowledge of the application of statistical methods (e.g. SPSS, ...)
• Very good command of written and spoken German
• Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
• good criminal record
• for male applicants: completed military or civilian service (no later than 3 months after the application deadline)
• Accuracy and reliability
• Very good communication skills, including the ability to present content in a clear and easily understandable way and willingness to give presentations and write scientific publications
• Ability to work in a team and strong interpersonal skills
• Willingness to undertake business trips in Austria and abroad
• Driving licence at least B
